Job Description

Soudan is an Outstation of Alexandria Station, located in the Barkly region in the Northern Territory. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Soudan Outstation as a Domestic / Gardener / Homestead Help, in a permanent full-time position. We are a small, collaborative team that like to work together. For this position, you will need to be flexible and agile, as no two days are the same! We will consider candidates working on a visa.

Day to day duties will vary, however will include things similar to the below:

  • Maintaining gardens, mowing, whipper snipping, weeding, mulching and pruning around the house, living quarters and broader property
  • Ensuring the living quarters, recreational room and amenities are clean and tidy
  • Helping in the kitchen (cleaning, occasional cooking)
  • Maintaining the overall property appearance
  • Changing linen and cleaning guest quarters (occasional requirement only)
  • Filling in for the Station Services Coordinator when they’re away (i.e cooking)

Ideally the successful candidate will:

  • Have a flexible and agile mindset, with the ability to undertake varied station tasks
  • Enjoy working autonomously with limited direction for some tasks, but also enjoy working with the Station Services Coordinator on other tasks you’ll do together
  • Have sound knowledge of gardening, cleaning, domestic functions and hygiene practices
  • Be able to prioritise workloads
  • Enjoy the unique lifestyle a remote cattle station offers
  • Hold a current Drivers Licence and have own transport (not mandatory)
  • Be able to commence between May 2021

Pre-employment requirements

Prior to commencement, all new employees are required to undertake an Australian National Police Check and are also required to be vaccinated against Q Fever (all associated costs covered by NAPCO).
