Job Description
Station Hand Position – Broome, Western Australia
Dampier Downs Station is currently recruiting for station hands for 2021. We are a family-owned cattle station 3 1/2 hours from Broome, Western Australia. Start date is dependent on the wet season but is expected to be early April 2021.
The position is open to both male and female applicants. Experience is not required but applicants must have a positive, can-do approach to life, a genuine willingness to contribute to the team and a real interest in agriculture.
Single accommodation only. Wages commensurate with Award and based on skills and experience. No dogs. This is a physically demanding job so must be fit, hardworking and prepared for working outdoors. Please note, there is no horse work involved.
Essential criteria:
- The legal right to work in Australia
- Manual driver’s license
- Ability to pass a drug test
- A work history that includes full-time hours (in any field, does not have to be related to agriculture)
- A genuine interest in livestock production
- Non-smoker
- Fluent English
This position is not suitable for a 2020 school leaver.
Only applicants who meet all the essential criteria will be considered for this position.
While station hand experience is not essential as full training is provided, experience in one or more of the following will be highly regarded.
- Truck driving
- Mechanical knowledge
- Operation of power tools
- Welding
- Machinery operation and maintenance
- Low stress stock handling
