Dampier Downs Station is currently recruiting for station hands for 2021. We are a progressive, family-owned cattle station 3 1/2 hours from Broome, Western Australia. Start date is dependent on the wet season, but is expected to be March/April 2021.
- The legal right to work in Australia
- Physically fit
- Manual driver’s license
- Ability to pass a drug test
- A work history that includes full-time hours (in any field, does not have to be related to agriculture)
- A genuine interest in livestock production
- This position is not suitable for a 2020 school leaver (or younger)

This role would suit someone who is looking to gain grass-roots skills in the pastoral industry. As employers, we pride ourselves on developing staff skills and knowledge. This is not a job where you will simply be told what to do, but also why you are doing it and how daily tasks contribute to the overall running of an extensive beef enterprise.
While station hand experience is not essential as full training is provided, experience in one or more of the following will be highly regarded.
- Truck driving
- Mechanical knowledge
- Operation of power tools
- Machinery operation and maintenance
- Low stress stock handling
This is a physically demanding job so must be fit, hardworking and prepared for all day in the outdoors. Please note, there is no horse or motor bike work involved.
Must be practical, genuinely like animals, be able to work as part of a small team, be clean and tidy and have a sense of humour. Wages commensurate with Award. No dogs.
